What Acupuncture is

Traditional Acupuncture (AT) is one of the disciplines of Chinese Traditional Medicine and is the means of  intervention preventive and therapeutic  more used, recognized and taught in Occident... Learn more
(Attention formulation “MTC” very much used nowadays, approaches unfortunately it very symptomatic and occidentalized acupuncture, limited in its effectiveness because confined just to treat the symptom by a list of point-receipt)

It is pressed on a vision energy of the man and universe to establish its reasoning diagnosis and therapeutic. That means that the alive systems(microcosms) are structured with the image of the universe (macrocosm) and thus subjected to the same laws, like those of the physical and electromagnetic fields for example.  The principles used to work out a preventive action, therapeutic as compliance with the rules of hygiene of life rise directly from these universal laws

Traditional Acupuncture will support and instigate the person as well in the sphere physical, as mental emotional or psychic. She will address herself to this energy dimension by stimulating, slowing down, helping, asking the organization to adapt and find her balance, enabling him to become again autonomous in a durable health.

The “QI” (to pronounce “tchi”), vital energy circulating everywhere in the body is transported by a system canal called meridian lines. They distribute it in all the organization in order to maintain the good performance this one and to vitalize the body in its entirety. This system of meridian lines has so many the external ways(on the surface of the body) which internal(inside the body) thus making it possible to connect the internal structures and functions to the external structures and functions.

The acupunctural treatment is done by the establishment and the handling of fine specific needles (0.20 to 0.30 millimetres in diameter) on certain located zones very precisely of the skin, the mucous membranes or subcutaneous fabrics of the human body, named points of acupuncture and located on the system of meridian lines.

The relevant choice and the manner of stimulating these points are determined by the traditional acupuncturist while being based on an exhaustive assessment. That will have effects on a body, an area or a given function of the organization in the intention to act, consequently, on a set of varied symptoms and/or the initial cause of imbalance.

Other tools and techniques are usable in order to have an action on the points of acupuncture, such as:
  • Moxibustion whose principle is to heat the needle or the point itself at a distance determined with a grass called “wormwood”
  • Ba Guan Zi which is suction cups, usable fixed on a point of acupuncture or moving on the way of a meridian line of acupuncture
  • More modern methods like electric stimulation of the needles or the soft laser
  • Tui Na, manual stimulations of point, meridian line or area of the body. The acupression or digipuncture in fact part.
Traditional Acupuncture can be used either as precondition, complement or relay with conventional medicine according to the cases.

Identified like a Traditional Medicine by the World Health Organization (WHO), TraditionalAcupuncture was registered with the immaterial cultural heritage of the humanity of UNESCO on November 16th, 2010.

Pains at the time as of treatments?.. Learn more
Pains at the time as of treatments?
The installation of the needles of acupuncture gets an impression close to a puncture of mosquito; during a fraction of a second and not leaving any brand. Once those positioned ,the patient in general feel a feeling of wellness and relaxation.

Depth of insertion of the needles?
Most points of acupuncture are stimulated on the surface and thus do not require a major insertion. Moreover, each point comprises precise indications as for the depth and with the angle of insertion of the needle. For more than 2000 years, these techniques have been transmitted to the traditional acupuncturists with an aim of practising their art effectively and in full safety

Is the transmissions of diseases it possible?
Obligation generalized to use sterile needles of impossible uniquerend use transmission of a disease by a needle of acupuncture.

Got results that if one does believe in it?
It is not concept of belief in acupuncture for obtaining results. The application of treatments and their effectiveness, as much on the children that on the animals, of it is the proof

Presence of side-effects?
The “National Institutes of Health” (Consensus1997) reports that acupuncture only  produces very little or not side-effects, that being a real advantage in comparison with many treatments suggested by modern medicine.  Certain tiny and occasional reactions at the time of the meeting or post-meeting dissipate themselves and seldom pose problem. (Lightbleedings, small bruises (blue) and/or sensitivity to the sites of insertion of the needles)

Can there be counter-indications?
Acupuncture having a regulating action induced by the body itself, it does not have there absolute counter-indications. However some care are necessary in certain cases, the acupuncturist completely being accustomed and being formed in these specific contexts and will be able to adapt to it perfectly.  Pregnancy: It should be informed your acupuncturist if you are pregnant or if you are in an approach of procreation.    Port of a pacemaker: only the use of stimulation electric is recommended, the installation of needle not being of nothing a problem.  Field of the oncology: the health status of the patient will determine the action of the acupuncturist. Traditional acupuncture will offer important complementary benefit not underestimating. It will support the suffering physical and emotive, will decrease the medicamentous side-effects and will thusimprove quality of life.   The catch of anticoagulants is in the same way important to be announced. It will be sometimes necessary to adapt the treatment acupunctural according to the answer of the organization to this category of drugs, the use of other methods of stimulation that the needle being possible.  In the cases of medical emergency and surgical, first aid must be applied and the patient led to the emergency department. To in no case acupuncture do not can replace!

Many treatments to be followed?
That depends on the seniority of the disease, of its state of advance and its evolutionarity… but especially also of the basic ground, namely the state of the patient him even, his vitality. The acuter the case is, the more the meetings are brought closer, the more the case is chronic the most them are spaced. The treatment is thus applied until improvement or stabilization of the disease. The initial assessment will make it possible more precisely to define estimated of therapeutic consultation.
The Art

Preamble to Chinese Traditional Medicine

The Classic of Chinese Traditional Medicine is the source of this ancestral art which is Traditional Acupuncture... Learn more
Its knowledge and its laws are consigned in the ancient text of the medicine of the Chinese: NEI TSING (Nei Jing)内, “Treated needles and fire”, this work is composed of 2 Books: SO OUENN (SuWen) 素内, Bible of the Acupuncturists, and LING CHOU (Ling Shu) 灵枢, his complement which explains the difficulties of them.

The oldest Masters, cities in Neï King, surround Hoang Ti, celebrates it yellow Emperor.
The work, composed of the two Books, So Ouenn and Linn Tchrou, appear themselves as a dialogue.
The Emperor Houang Ti, the ingenuous pupil, questions his professors there:
  • Tchi Po, its doctor - Master of the Sky (hear the Minister Large Astronomer) and
  • Koué Yu Tsiu, Minister Large Astrologer.

Its questions relate to all the rules of celestial, terrestrial and human energies, of the Diseases and their treatments. These two Ministers teach with the Emperor all the mysteries, even these crecies, of energies, their disordered states(causes and evolution) and of their re-establishment.
According to this classical book, as of this time(approximately 2,500 or 2 800 av. J-C) the method of treatment was already made up in its entirety.
Blood the circulation, the weight of the bodies, their dimension are also described in Neï King.

For some, Neï King is a work of compilation, work of several scientists of the time whoconsigned the knowledge accumulated and transmitted since the age of the stone stylet.

In antiquity, China was populated nomads, stockbreeders, hunters or fishermen. Each tribe had its Shaman - man medicine – and his own book of care. It is not impossible that this work is the compilation of best treated these Shamans.Being the fundamental and principal Text of Chinese Medicine, Neï King is our reference. As for the age of Neï King, the opinions are shared. One can consider that the Original text existed already under Han (200 av. J-C) and its most of origin considerably older, certainly transmitted via the Oral tradition since the oldest time of China.

The enigmas contained in the Classic of Old Chinese Traditional Acupuncture are revealed gradually as “researchers” untie this hank and understand its contents better and better.

The knowledge of energetics grows rich and the practice acupuncturale reached, at some, the levels of excellence of the former large Masters. Monsieur Laville Méry (great name among the agents of this art), after 40 years of practice of Traditional Acupuncture, entrusted one day in seminar to be himself given an account to 2 recoveries in his life not to have understood Acupuncture and to have had to relearn it one 3rd time. By the means of very eminent sinologists, whose principal ones were Jesuits on mission, Europe, especially Germany,France and England, were strongly interested in China since the 17th century. Let us pay homage to many and important work of the missionaries of the Institute Ricci and to his eminent last representing in France, RPLARRE.
Authors

Authors of Traditional Acupuncture

Since 1936, we have extraordinary work on Acupuncture of Monsieur Georges Soulié de Morant... Learn more
Preamble:
For this period, France has swarmed its knowledge of Acupuncture in all Europe (see the history of Acupuncture in the western world) but it especially counted many researchers having explored NeïKing ancient of Chinese Medicine (So Ouenn and Linn Tchrou). These researchers followed by successive waves of new Experts allowed to better understand enigmas then insurmountable.

35 more years ago, knowledge and the practice of Acupuncture, in Europe, were still advanced, but rudimentary as for the comprehension of these worthy Texts, true treasures of Humanity. Progress of comprehension achieved since 1960 is enormous during that the Cultural revolution plunged China towards the abandonment of its own roots.

Whereas Europe remained marked print of G.Soulié de Morant, France took gigantic steps a head, exceeded its first work, to become today, without any doubt, one of the countries which knows best the Thought, Acupuncture, and by Chinese extension Traditional Medicine

The French Experts and some Sinologists are among most erudite (with California, Taiwan and Hong Kong where still around the years the 1970 2 larger Institutes of Traditional Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine existed having trained our French Masters and number of the French Traditional Experts…). Indeed our formation and our trainers result from afiliation and a direct Eastern formation between the years 1935 - 1954, near the two most famous Institutes in Asia.

INSTITUTE OF TRADITIONAL CHINESE MEDECINE AND ACUPUNCTURE of HONG KONG directed by Professors SHENN and LEUNG KOK YUENN and Mr Charles LAVILLE MERY, Professor in charge in France.

INSTITUTE OF ACUPUNCTURE TRADITIONAL OF TAÏ PEH directed by Professor WU WEI PING with Ms Jacques LAVIER and Charles LAVILLE MERY, Professors in charge for France.

Several translations of Neï King:
  • Doctor Chamfrault. Its work remains an important sum of knowledge, in particular inTraditional Acupuncture, Chinese energy phytotherapy and nutrition,
  • Doctor Husson. Its translation of So Ouenn has always made authority and was one of best for several decades,
  • Doctor Duron. These last years, we could, finally, profit from the so much expected publication of its translation enriched by the comments of Mr. Laville Méry. This one was the fruit of the work of a team of 8 people, of which Doctor Berladier, Mr. Charles Laville Méry,Jacques Martin Hartz, an Chinese, a Vietnamese…), directed by Doctor Duron.
  • Their work, very critical and scholars, attest quality, fidelity and reliability of the translation. Its major asset, besides the extreme rigour of their work, is the presence in the Text, of the comments of the Master Wang Ping and Mr.Charles Laville Méry, eminent expert of theTradition.

In 1954, 3 other precursors meet Mr. LavilleMéry to require of him to learn Acupuncture. It makes them receive in the already quoted Institutes. It is Dr. J. Schatz, future President of the International Company of Acupuncture,André Faubert which will be, by his teaching and its works, a leader of this Medicine in France and Jean Louis Blard, Expert of a great experiment and cofounder of IEATC with Thierry Bollet in 1979.

Immediately following this publication, we knew that of Doctor Lavier, dental surgeon, famous professor and expert acupuncturist, formed inTaiwan by Professeur Wu Weï Ping and having largely made his contribution to the knowledge of the most esoteric Tradition some times.

Its translation of So Ouenn, in conformity with the old lesson, is entirely written in the form of “poems” or “contines”. More one Chinese Text, translated or not, is ancient more one is sure of his quality even by taking account of an improvement of the knowledge of the Chinese on the meridian lines and the points of acupuncture with the wire of the centuries.

    Other reference books :

Houang Gives Semi, known literary man, consigned in his work Kia I King, the practical methods based on wisdom of NEÏ KING. The work was republished in 1955. It is divided into 12 pounds and 128 chapters treating of anatomy, physiology, the points with puncturer, the prohibited points, pathologies and the pulses. It is the first work being concerned with precision in the site of the points and which specifies their number on each meridian line.
More over it quotes and comments on works now disappeared:
    • Wang Tchou Kou or Wang Chou Houo (265 to317) which published his essential work forAcupuncture:
    • Mo Ching or “delivers pulses”. Chinese Medicine counted many treaties of the pulses.

Those were so bulky and so complicated that Wang Chou Houo decided to simplify the method of it.
The main thing of its work is still the reference nowadays. Its work in 10 chapters, is at the origin of an abundant literature, since Chinese Medicine understands 156 dedicated works, later on, on this subject.
In his book, Wang Chou Houo, develops knowledge of antiquity on the diagnosis by the radial pulses about which already Pien Tsiou spoke and of which the Master Hoa To would have helped itself.
Pulses

Chinese Acupuncture and Pulses

It is the principal and fundamental method energy assessment of a Traditional Acupuncturist... Learn more
So Ouenn teaches that the“Large Blue-collar worker” poses his energy assessment only starting from the pulse and of the dye of the face. The catch of the pulse understands the examination of the radial, well-known artery in Occident, but which is, without possible comparison, much vaster than this one. It brings a bunch of information on all operation energy, organic, psychological etc, of the Patient.

This method is single in the world and makes it possible to consider the Patient and not his disease, to treat the energy cause and not the symptoms. I.e. to apply a strictly individualized treatment.

Without the energy catch of pulse, that is impossible. An edition apocryphal book, Mo Tsiué or “secrecy of the pulse”, was published under the Five dynasties (907-960). A republication was made in 1068 and was used by it certainly basic for an edition compared into Persan, Chinese and Arab. Its first translation of French Latin is due to the Reverend Père Hervieu in 1735.
History

Birth of acupuncture

During dynasties Am (589-618) and Tang (618-907) is held one long period of prosperity for China where Acupuncture develops fully... Learn more
Souen Seu Mo is the author of a large medical collection containing a good study of leprosy, genital ulcerations and their treatment. This author wrote the oldest Chinese treaty ofophthalmology and exposed to it against indications in Acupuncture. It developed the code of conduct of energy without using the rules of toning up/dispersion.

Wang Ping, large scholar and first Doctor of the court in 762, decided to check the authenticity of the “King” (fundamental Books) in circulation. The Emperor Tsin Che Houang Ti (2nd century before J.C.) wanted that the history of China starts with its reign.

For that, it had to destroy any trace of the past.In order to be sure result, it made change the writing; thus, the intellectuals could not understand any more the old lesson contained in the drawing itself of the ideograms; it under goes the influence and the pressure of the caste of the Legists and imprisoned the Well-read men (Taoists, Confucianists), made burn all the Books Classical and prohibited, under penalty of death, any reference to the Tradition and Antiquity. It is astonishing to see that the Chairman Mao made the same thing exactly, almost 2000 years after, to set up the Cultural revolution.

Fortunately, after the disappearance of this Emperor, of the Chinese succeeded in reconstituting of memory the Texts of which they could remember and an old Chou King (this work one of is venerated old works philosophical), it appears, was found hidden in a wall of the house of Confucius.

However, most works, thus reconstituted, many errors contained, even were not books of antiquity but only of the late writings.

Wan Ping checked, corrected and authenticated the reference books. He illustrated himself initially by his critical comments of So Ouenn in a study on his authenticity, his origin, his bottomand his form.

It left, also, an edition with accompanying notes of Neï King. The work, lost at the time Tang, was recompiled under Song and Ming, then republished in 1955 in Shanghai (this work, mainly, would have contributed to work of Dr.Duron). It is with this So Ouenn that we work and from which your course is established. Your Tchreng (1644-1911: dynasty of Tsing), important source of work of Georges Soulié De Morant, is a collection in which are consigned most methods used up to that point.

Also let us announce that, according to Professeur Leung Kok Yuen, certain methods used would have occurred starting from bad interpretations of Neï King. They were commented on in (225 A.V. J-C), in a famous work, Nan King, “difficult comments of NeïKing”.
